2007 DEADLINES FOR GENERAL ELECTION    Sec. 8-400

 

October 30 --   Last day to postmark application or letter of application for ballot.   Sec. 8-400 (2) (c).

 

November 5 --   Last day to apply in person for ballot.   Sec. 8-400 (2) (c).

 

November 5 --   Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the board of elections no later than November 15th.   Sec. 8-412(1)

 

November 5 --  Last day to deliver ballot in person to the board of elections.   Sec. 8-412 (1).

If you are unable to vote in person on Election Day, you can vote by absentee ballot.  The deadline for postmarking your absentee ballot application is Tuesday, October 30, 2007.  You can submit an absentee ballot application in person at the Ulster County Board of Elections as late as Monday, November 5, 2007.  

After the Board of Elections receives your absentee ballot application, they will mail a ballot to you at the address that you designate in the application.  This ballot must be completed and postmarked by Monday, November 5, 2007

You may vote by absentee ballot if you will be:

  • unavoidably absent from your county on Election Day

  • unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability

  • a patient in a Veterans' Administration hospital

  • detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.
