Democratic Candidate for Town Supervisor
Carl Chipman

Carl Chipman was first elected supervisor in 2007. During that time, he has worked closely with the Democrats on the Town Board to address many of our town’s most pressing issues, including zoning law revisions and problems in the Assessor’s Office. Carl as been the general manager of Collier Motor Cars in Ellenville for 26 years and is active in several community organizations. He lives in Accord with his wife and two children.

Many people will be surprised to hear that we have decided to endorse Carl Chipman for Town Supervisor.  We believe that the 2007 campaign was the nastiest on record and we found the vicious personal attacks put forth by the Republican Club repugnant and vile.  When Carl asked to meet with the Democratic Committee, we were skeptical of his denunciations of the campaign activity of 2007, but in reviewing his record of Supervisor and his willingness to work with the Democrats on the Town Board over the past two years, we have decided to take his renunciation at face value in the interest of promoting unity in our Community.  We think that Rochester is unacceptably divided and we think is an important first step in bringing our town together again.

We will carefully watch Carl’s actions over the next two years to make sure that he is living up to his word.  And we are counting on him.
