Tony Spano

Tony has served on our Town Council since 2004.  During his tenure 

he has worked hard to improve the level of Town Board oversight of the Town’s financial affairs and he has played an important role in trying to bring financial controls to the Accord Fire District.

Tony has also been tireless in his efforts to open the process of government to protect our residential neighborhoods. He labored hard to establish our Town’s first community center (literally, he painted the walls in the wee hours after a full day of work!).  Tony was the Town’s liaison to the Rochester Youth Commission and was an active volunteer firefighter in the Kerhonkson Fire Department for nearly 20 years.  

He is a highly-decorated veteran Special Operations law enforcement officer serving in the Wallkill Police Department and was awarded the County’s Top DWI Municipal Officer Award and two Special Congressional Recognition Awards.  Tony is a graduate of Rondout Valley High School, Ulster County Community College, and the New York City Police Academy.  

He lives in Kerhonkson with his wife, Deidre, and their two daughters.
