Town of Rochester music legends Heather Masse and Rolf Sturm will give an exclusive concert performance on Saturday evening, September 14, to benefit Democrats and the 2019 elections at Arrowood Farms.
The seated concert will be staged within the outdoor pavilion and is expected to start at 7:30 pm. Limited sheltered seating is available on a first-come-first serve basis. Lawn seating, in close proximity to the pavilion, will also be available. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to watch the rise of the Harvest Moon while listening to the performance. This event is open to public; no one will be turned away. Tickets are suggested contributions made in support of the 2019 local elections. Children are welcome at the event and will be admitted for free. |

About the artists
Heather Masse
Heather lives with her family in Accord, NY and is a member of the Billboard-charting folk group, The Wailin’ Jennys. She has performed at hundreds of venues across the world. Heather was a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, both as a solo performer and as a member of The Wailin' Jennys. On the show, she collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello, Wynton Marsalis, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming, and Emmylou Harris. In 2008, Heather released Many Moons, an EP of jazz-inspired folk duets with pianist Jed Wilson. She followed that up with her first full-length solo album Bird Song. Her solo debut on Red House Records, showcased her luscious alto voice and her superb songwriting. The title track “Bird Song” won her 1st prize at the International Acoustic Music Awards, and in 2012 she also won a prestigious Juno Award for the album Bright Morning Stars, with The Wailin’ Jennys. Masse returned to her jazz roots in 2013 with Lock My Heart, an album of standards she recorded with piano legend Dick Hyman that had a long run on the jazz charts, and again in February 2016, with her album, August Love Song released with the renowned trombonist Roswell Rudd. www.heathermasse.com |
Rolf Sturm
The tremendously talented Rolf Sturm lives in Kerhonkson and has been a full time guitarist since 1984. Rolf appears on over 60 CDs, performing with or appearing on recordings that feature Roswell Rudd, Ethan Iverson, John Medeski, Billy Martin, Anthony Braxton, Tony Trischka, David Johansen (NY Dolls/ Buster Poindexter), Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna), Eddy Arnold, Archie Shepp, Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead), Bob Mintzer, Catherine Russell, Heather Masse, and Jenna Mammina.
Rolf tours extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe and has performed at dozens of jazz, jam band/rock, folk, and blues festivals. Rolf has also performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and on soundtracks for both film and television. His music has been featured on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered. |
