This Democratic committee supports candidates who are highly qualified for office, and we stand by them as they serve their terms.

Our elected public servants and town staff have challenging jobs, and should not have to endure the harassment they’ve been getting when running town business.

We need to call out the atrocious behavior from a few local Republicans towards our hardworking public servants

The Town of Rochester Supervisor and Town Board  are working hard for our town. They are addressing long-deferred infrastructure updates and core responsibilities. Among their many accomplishments, they have created and/or worked with:

• Our Housing Committee to get a grant of $167,000 to address the need for housing in town.
  

• The Community Preservation Fund, which will generate revenue to preserve open space and agricultural land from overdevelopment and maintain our rural character.
  

• Our Climate Smart Committee to achieve bronze status, so we can be more resilient to climate change.
  

• Our Ambulance Improvement District, to help ensure sufficient funding for local EMS providers.
  

• The Highway Department to manage and repair roads, bridges and culverts long overdue.
  

• Updated digital infrastructure to improve accessibility and transparency, streamline application processes, and boost operating efficiency.

Recently we’ve seen a wave of unsupported accusations, innuendo, and outright lies about Town of Rochester Board Members, our Supervisor, and town employees peddled on social media and at Town Board public meetings. This persistent disinformation is coming from individuals and official channels of the ToR GOP. It is being taken to harassment levels. Recently, when the misinformation was called out, the town’s Republican Committee claimed “abuse of authority.” If that pattern sounds familiar, it’s because we have seen it play out over the past few years as Republicans at the national level attack the social safety net and the workings of government, stoke mistrust among neighbors, and then claim that they are the ones being persecuted.

Our Town Board and Supervisor are dedicated public servants during a time when the town is going through a lot of growing pains and challenges. They have brought a high level of competence, integrity, and foresight to our local government. We are proud to support them. We look forward to seeing Erin Enouen and Charlotte Smiseth continue the work they’ve started and we’re eager to see Christian Wulf and Ken Stephens bring their talents and energy to the Town Board and County Legislature.

Have you received but not filled out your mail-in ballot? Do it NOW.

Get your ballot processed now. DO NOT count on a last-day mailing.

Even if a mail-in ballot is postmarked by November 3rd, ballots must be received by the BOE by November 10th to be counted.

With reported delays in the postal system, it is too risky to delay completing and returning your ballot. Here are your options:

1. Complete your ballot and bring it to the post office THIS WEEK. Have the postmaster hand-stamp a postmark in your presence.

2. Complete your ballot and bring it to the Board of Elections in Kingston any time between now and Election Day. You can also bring it to any of the county Early Voting poll sites during this Early Voting period.

3. Complete your ballot and deliver it in person to any voting poll site on Election Day, 6am-9pm.

4. Should you choose to Vote Early INSTEAD of voting by mail – you can go to an Early Voting site and ask for an affidavit ballot.

What is early Voting?

Early Voting is nine days of voting, prior to Election Day, for you to vote at any of our six Early Voting Centers.

Who can vote early?

ALL registered voters are entitled to vote during Early Voting and may cast their ballot at any one of the Early Voting Centers across Ulster County.
